Newspaper Circulation is the homes or
readers that read the paper or shopper each day. The papers circulation is
usually the key to appealing to advertisers. Circulation can be small or
large. Small circulations can be great because they are concentrated and
often of a certain demographic. The demographic may be so defined that
advertisers that sell to this demographic may benefit from that small papers
circulation. On the other hand many advertisers benefit from large
circulations because they can get their message to a larger audience.
Newspaper circulation often time must be audited...that is, these papers
must be able to prove their circulation so that advertisers are confident
that their advertisement is getting the distribution and circulation that
they have paid for.
These papers and shoppers are an important
part of the shared mail industry. Shared Mail is a term that means that the
mail gets to you by essentially sharing the ride in a newspaper for example.
Sheared Mail is slightly different than direct mail and usually less
expensive to the advertiser. Shared Mail is less targeted but arguably more
effective because it has what is called a longer shelf life. Shared Mail
often gets set aside by the consumer rather than pitched in the trash.
Shared Mail has recently become a more common term.
Shared Mail can be inserted in to the paper
or shopper and ride along with the other advertisements. These shared mail
flyers are therefore looking for a way to catch the readers eye. These
shared mail flyers and inserts can be run on either glossy or non-glossy
paper and can be oversized. Shared Mail can be die-cut to ad that special
feature that may set you apart as an advertiser.
Die-cut Flyers stand out. Die-cut flyers is a
term that simply means that the flyer is generally not square. Rather the
die-cut flyer is cut in a shape. These flyers are usually run through a
separate machine that cuts the edges in various shapes such as a car, or a
house, or a pizza, etc. Our presses can do this in-line. That is, these
die-cut flyers are cut on press at the same time they are printed saving you
time and money.
Die-cut flyers are very popular because you notice them when they are in the

Oversized Flyers are large flyers that
often times stand out and stick out of the newspaper of flyer in which they
are inserted. Oversized Flyers are popular and although they are slightly
more expensive...the advertisers are generally happy to pay a little more
because again, these advertisers are trying to catch the readers eye. With
so many flyers and inserts in the papers today...oversized inserts and
oversized flyers provide that extra element that often times makes the
difference.
Oversized flyers can run on nearly any paper
or substrate. Many printers aren't equipped with presses that can
efficiently run oversized flyers and inserts...we are. Our presses are just
the type that can run these oversized flyers efficiently. Oversized flyers
can also be run on glossy paper.
Glossy Flyers are popular today because they
are essentially more appealing to the reader often times and glossy flyers
help the advertiser differentiate themselves by standing out in the paper.
The papers and shoppers are often non-glossy.
And glossy flyers contrast the paper itself. Glossy Flyers are crisp and
glossy. Print colors seem to stand out more with glossy flyers. Print and
deliver Glossy Flyers are highly effective.
P&D is a term coined that means Print &
Deliver. The advertising insert industry is primarily comprised of
newspapers, dailys, weeklys, and free as well as flyers and shoppers. These
establishments generally have a staff of sales associates who sell both ROP
(run-on-page) advertisements as well as inserts or free-standing inserts.
Most of these businesses do not print their own
inserts and in most cases they don't print their papers in-house.
It is easier for these reps and their
organization to sell inserts when they know the total cost of the flyers
delivered from the outside printer when it includes freight in the price.
This makes it easier for these reps to sell these inserts with a "delivered"
price...thus the term "print & Deliver".
